HALL OF FAME

Former Senator Jesse A. Helms always referred to the free enterprise system as “the miracle of America” because he knew the important roll the free enterprise system played in shaping this great country.  And, he always felt it was important to honor the individuals who helped shaped the nation with their ingenuity and strong will to succeed.  When Lady Margaret Thatcher dedicated the Jesse Helms Center’s A.J. Fletcher Building in 2001, the Charles A. Cannon Free Enterprise Hall of Fame debuted as an exhibit within the center.

More than just a list of accomplishments, the Charles A. Cannon Hall of Fame shares the inspirational stories of some of the most visionary entrepreneurs this country has ever seen.  In 2008, the Helms Center sought to take this message of free enterprise even further, by creating a website to honor those same people you’ll see in the physical Charles A. Cannon Hall of Fame.  We call these people free enterprise heroes because of the impact they have in their businesses, communities and philanthropic endeavors.  The goal of the Free Enterprise Heroes website is to share these exciting stories of courage, success, and generosity with a whole new generation.  Their stories remind us that true success is ultimately measured by how much you give of yourself to others.
